This week, VanTrust Capital modified its “Dividend Stars” portfolio, removing Cencosud (CENCOSUD: -5.87%) and adding Santander Chile (BSANTANDER: -1.82%). This comes amid “a gradual recovery in the macroeconomic environment driven by improved commodity prices” and “increased consumer confidence and signs of recovery in domestic demand,” the brokerage firm said.
Santander Chile “presents an attractive profile in this scenario, with potential growth from increased lending activity in the auto and mortgage segments, while loans to large corporations and consumers are also expected to show more favorable performance throughout the year,” VanTrust highlighted.
“This change increases our exposure to the Chilean market and to a sector that has historically benefited from an improving economic cycle,” the firm stated. “The company presents an attractive profile in this scenario, with potential growth stemming from increased lending activity in the automotive and mortgage segments, while loans to large corporations and consumers are also expected to show more favorable performance throughout the year.”
Thus, the brokerage firm’s new favorite dividend-paying stocks are: Aguas-A (AGUAS-A: -2.35%); Andina-B (ANDINA-B: +0.11%); Banco de Chile (CHILE: -1.18%); Banco Santander (SANTANDER: +0%); and Enel Chile (ENELCHILE: -1.11%).
CHANGES TO THE LOCAL CHAMPIONS PORTFOLIO
On January 26, VanTrust also made changes to its Local Champions portfolio, adding BCI (BCI: -4.02%), Banco Itaú (ITAU: +0%), Parque Arauco (PARAUCO: -3.28%), CCU (CCU: -4.27%), Andina-B (ANDINA-B: +0.11%), SMU (SMU: +2.20%), and Enel Chile (ENELCHILE: -1.11%), according to a report dated January 26 of this year.
“On this occasion, we added BCI and Itaú, increasing our exposure to a sector that has historically benefited from an improved economic cycle,” the brokerage firm stated. “Additionally, we added Parque Arauco and Mallplaza, supported by opportunities to renegotiate lease agreements in a potentially more favorable macroeconomic environment.” “We also included Falabella and SMU, whose results could be boosted by a gradual recovery in consumption,” he added.
